Jane Alyce (Fry) Stayton was born in Winfield, KS to Earl and Dorothy Fry on April 30, 1941. The family moved to Wellington during her grade school years. Jane (and Bob) graduated from Wellington High School in 1959. The high school sweethearts married on July 12, 1960 and they started their family in Mayfield. Bob, Jane, Debbie and Brian moved to the farm in 1966. Robbie, Heather and Marti completed the family over the years. Jane started working out of the home once all the kids were in school, running Friendship Meals in Mayfield. In 1985 the family moved to Wellington and then to their current home on A Street in 1989. Jane went to work at the Wellington Public Library as the Interlibrary Loan lady until she retired in 2009. Jane volunteered her time and energy to her church and other various committees, and was always ready to help. In their retirement, Jane and Bob enjoyed RV camping, traveling to Alaska and frequently Colorado. Jane was an avid bowler, loved reading, all kinds of sewing and quilting crafts, and playing cards and dominoes with friends and family.
Jane is survived by her husband, Bob of 62 years, her five children and fourteen grandchildren: Debbie Warren-Amy (Nizar Sibai Johnston) Spade, Katie, Patrick, Jacob Warren; Brian (Dawn)-Jack, Cooper; Rob (Natalia)-Roy; Heather (Eric) Purvis-Victoria (John) Cleary, Grace (Braden) Splichal, Emma, Josie, Mac, Lane; Marti (Jeremy) Coombs-Caden, Mallory, Parker.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Dorothy, and her siblings Norman and Carol.
Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. at the Mayfield Federated Church in Mayfield, KS. Pastor Esther Ndambuki will officiate.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 from 1:00 – 7:00 P.M. The family will be present to greet friends from 5:00 – 6:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the Mayfield Federated Church or the Wellington Public Library. Contributions can be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
