Jason A. "Pat" Ferguson, age 89, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at the Harry Hynes Hospice Inpatient Unit at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, KS. He was a retired engineer/fireman for the Santa Fe Railroad.
Jason A. Ferguson was born on April 12, 1920 in Blackwell, OK to George Ferguson and Alta (Moses) Ferguson. He served in the United States Army during World War II from June 29, 1944 – May 8, 1946.
He married Neva E. Furber on July 4, 1939 in Tulsa, OK. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this past summer.
He was a member of the First Christian Church, the American Legion in Wellington, KS, VFW in Blackwell, OK, and the United Transportation Union. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Gary Ferguson; sister, Lois Sprowls; and brother, Dale Ferguson.
Survivors include his wife, Neva Ferguson of Wellington, KS; two sons, Jeff Ferguson and his wife Georgetta of Wellington, KS and Bill Ferguson and his wife Pam of South Haven, KS; daughter-in-law, Gail Ferguson of Wellington, KS; two brothers, Jack Ferguson of Fieldbrook, CA and Rodney Ferguson of Wellington, KS; 10 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 5, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. at the First Christian Church. Pastor Don Bryant and Pastor Sallie Shore will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Sumner Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, February 4, 2010 from 1:00 – 8:00 P.M. The family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.
Memorials have been established with the Avenue of Flags and the Sumner County Veterans Memorial. Contributions can be left at the funeral home.
