Javier Orlando Zavala, age 44 of Wellington, formerly of Denver, CO, passed away Monday morning, January 15, 2018 at Sumner Regional Medical Center.

Javier was born on June 27, 1973 in Wellington, KS to William Zavala and Gloria C. (Aguilar) Zavala. He was raised in Wellington and graduated with the WHS Class of 1991.

Javier enjoyed life to the fullest. He adored his sisters and his nieces and nephew. He loved food, music, concerts, WWE wrestling, Star Wars, laughing, and spending time with his family. He was an avid sports fan, loving the Kansas City Chiefs and KU Basketball.

He was preceded in death by his father, William.

Survivors include his mother and step-father, Gloria and Jesus Avalos of Wellington; four sisters, Toni McElhaney and her husband Caleb of Dallas, TX, Angelica Avalos- Traylor and her husband Rodney of Dallas, TX, Elisea Avalos-Reyes and her husband Mike of San Diego, CA, and Cristina Avalos-Wagner and her husband Josh of Kansas City, KS; one nephew, Michael Reyes, Jr.; and three nieces, Elaria Reyes, and Adelina and Estela Wagner.

Rosary will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2018 at 7:00 P.M. at St. Anthony - St. Rose Catholic Church.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anthony - St. Rose Catholic Church on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. Father Hung Pham will officiate.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, January 18, 2018 from 1:00 – 5:00 P.M.

Memorials have been established with the National Kidney Foundation and St. Anthony – St. Rose Catholic Church. Contributions can be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
