Obituary

Jerry Dean Mortimer, age 70, passed away Saturday evening, October 20, 2012 at his home in Milan, KS. He was a retired machinist and an avid gardner.

Jerry Dean Mortimer was born on March 23, 1942 near Milan, KS to William Rollie Mortimer and Sarah (Bishop) Mortimer. He graduated from Argonia High School in 1960.

He married Virginia Lee Barry on December 31, 1964 at the Mayfield Federal Church in Mayfield, KS.

He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Velmar and Lucerne Barry; brothers, Thomas Darrell Mortimer and Donald Steve Mortimer; brother-in-law, Gary Hutchinson; brother-in-law Dwayne Barry; niece, Joni Ford; nephew, Douglas Edward Mortimer; twin niece and nephew, Kevin and Marla Hutchinson.

Survivors include his wife, Ginny Mortimer of Milan, KS; one son, Jeff Mortimer of Mayfield, KS; brother, William Mortimer, Jr, and his wife Sharon of Wichita, KS; sisters, June Williams and her husband, Elroy of Milan, KS and Virginia Schon and her husband Rick of Goddard, KS; numerous nieces and nephews; and extended family and friends.

Graveside Services will be held at the Osborne Cemetery in Mayfield, KS on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. Chaplain Ron Sloan will officiate.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 from 1:00 – 8:00 P.M. The family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.

Memorials have been established with the Mayfield Community Building Fund or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice. Contributions can be left at the funeral home.
