Joan Gonzalez, age 70, passed away Thursday morning, January 22, 2009 at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Wellington, KS. She was a homemaker and had been a Wellington resident for the past three years.

Joan (Stewart) Gonzalez was born on May 24, 1938 in Clover Port, KY to Roy Stewart and Mary (Tucker) Stewart.

She married Manuel Gonzalez on October 27, 1957 in Wayne, MI. He preceded her in death on January 3, 1989.

She enjoyed playing cards and spending time with family and friends.

Joan is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Manuel; one brother, and one grandson.

Survivors include two sons, Manual Gonzalez and Michael Gonzalez both of Detroit, MI; three daughters, Vicki Ramey of Wellington, KS, Rosemary Gilreath of Detroit, MI, and Cindy Gonzalez of Panama City Beach, FL; seven grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation.

A memorial has been established with the Wheat Capital Manor Tenant's Association. Contributions can be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
