John Raymond Lechtenberg, age 63, of Mulvane, loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away Sunday morning, November 13, 2011 as a result of a car accident. He was a machinist at GKN.

John R. Lechtenberg was born on November 17, 1947 in Chanute, KS to John Joseph Lechtenberg and Virginia Maya (Burns) Lechtenberg.

John married Connie Harris on December 18, 1970 in Wellington, KS.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and his dogs. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman.

He is preceded in death by his parents; step-mother Gertrude Lechtenberg and his brother, Christopher Lechtenberg.

Survivors include his loving wife of 40 years, Connie, of Mulvane, KS; two sons, John Bryan Lechtenberg and his wife Debra, of Stillwater, OK and Eric Lechtenberg and his wife Janelle of Lakeland, FL; one daughter, Ginny L. Lechtenberg of Stillwater, OK; four brothers, Frank Lechtenberg and his wife Delia of Beulah, CO, Tony Lechtenberg of Leoti, KS, Scott Lechtenberg and his wife Melody of Newalla, OK and Bill Lechtenberg of Billings, OK; six grandchildren, Tiffany, Sandy, John, Lucas, Lauryn and Logan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Wellington, KS on November 17, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. Reverend Brent Clayton will officiate.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. The family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.

A memorial has been established with the South Haven Library. Contributions can be left at the funeral home.
