John H. Palmer, age 82, of Wellington, KS, passed away early Tuesday morning, June 28, 2016 at William Newton Memorial Hospital in Winfield, KS. He was a retired aircraft machinist.
John H. Palmer was born on December 13, 1933 in Kansas City, KS to James Luther Palmer and Hannah Marie (Murrell) Palmer. He served in the United States Air Force from 1952-1956.
John married Betty Lou Chancellor on August 24, 1953 in Seward, AK. She preceded him in death on August 12, 2003.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty; and three brothers.
Survivors include one son John Palmer, Jr. and his wife Katerina of Wellington, KS; three daughters, Mary K. Ewing and her husband Bruce and Karen Schilling and her husband Larry all of Wellington, KS and Theresa Erlich and her husband Ron of Forest Grove, OR; 19 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Wellington, KS, on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. Reverend Dr. Phyllis Provost-Saas and Chaplain Don Cross will officiate.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 from 1:00 – 8:00. The family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00.
A memorial has been established with the Kansas Aviation Museum in lieu of flowers. Contributions can be left at the funeral home.
