John Robert (JR) Fisk, age 87, Wellington resident since 1951, passed away Wednesday evening, May 20, 2020 at his home in Wellington, KS. JR worked as a Conductor for the Santa Fe Railroad for 47 years before his retirement.
John Robert (JR) Fisk was born on November 18, 1932 in Wichita, KS to John Robert Fisk and Mabel (Chaplin) Fisk. He graduated from South Haven High School with the Class of 1950.
He married Wilma L. Shaffer on August 8, 1974 in Wellington, KS. She preceded him in death on December 10, 2014.
JR was a 32 nd Degree, 50 year Mason, Knights Templar Mason, Shriners, Ancient and
Accepted Scottish Rite, York Rite College. He was a significant collector of Santa Fe historical and memorabilia items. He was a member of the First Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Wilma.
Survivors include his children, John R. Fisk and his wife Katherine of Dallas, GA, Kelly T. Fisk and his wife Brenda of Powder Springs, GA; and William "Bill" McCombs and his wife Diane of Kansas City, KS; grandchildren, Brenna Couch, Kelli McElreath, Erin Scharko, Shamra Hatfield, Newt Pittman, Tim McCombs, Stephanie McCombs, Chris McCombs; and great grandchildren, Brady, Bowie, Keelin, Margaret, Erik, Bella, Micah, Eisley, Cody, Madelyn, and Nastashia.
Burial will take place at Prairie Lawn Cemetery.
In honoring JR's wishes cremation has taken place.
Memorials have been established with the Wellington Senior Center and the Wellington Food Bank in lieu of flowers. Contributions can be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
JR's family would like to thank all of the hospice angels, family, neighbors, friends, and special friend, Yvonne Hill, who have helped take care of him these past few months.
