Joseph Milton Locke, 82, of Kansas City, MO, formerly of the Wellington and Winfield area passed away early Sunday morning, November 25, 2007.
Joseph Milton Locke was born on April 15, 1925 in Nevada, MO to Richard W. Locke and Ruby G. (McWilliams) Locke.
On September 21, 1941 he married Opal Vera Gardner in Springfield, MO. They had recently celebrated 66 years of marriage.
Joe and Vera owned and operated Lockes Men and Boys Wear for almost 40 years. He remodeled the building fronts from 102 N. Washington through 112 N. Washington, called the mini-mall at that time, to help improve downtown.
Joe and Vera moved to Winfield in 1988 and to Kansas City the last few years to be with family.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Buell and Daryl Locke and two sisters, Lorene Crouse and Lawana Cartwright.
Survivors include his wife, Vera; three daughters, Karen S. Lawless and her husband Don of Kansas City, Saundra Kay Hutchison and her husband Charles of Kansas City, and Donna Langford and the late Chuck Langford of Wellington; seven grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.
Private family services will be held Wednesday, November 28, 2007. Interment will be in Prairie Lawn Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with Hospice Care of Kansas. Contributions can be left or mailed to Frank Funeral Home.
