Joy Lucille Rose, age 79, life long Wellington, KS resident passed away at Via Christi St. Francis Hospice Inpatient Unit in Wichita, KS on Saturday, September 15, 2007. She was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Joy Lucille (Wegand) Rose was born on October 22, 1927 in Wellington, KS to Willie Sherman Wegand and Alma H. (Withrow) Wegand. She attended Wellington schools and graduated with the WHS Class of 1946.

Joy married Donnie H. Rose on June 15, 1947 in Wellington, KS. They had recently celebrated 60 years of marriage.

Joy enjoyed family time, especially the grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Donnie Rose of Wellington, KS; one son, William "Van" Rose and his wife Angela of Wichita, KS; one daughter, Melody Ann Green and her companion Larry Walker of Enid, OK; one sister, Evelyn Landes of Wellington, KS; four grandchildren, Shannon Cooper, Kristen Rose, Addison Rose, and Greyson Rose; and three great grandchildren, Zack, Brandon, and Mason.

Funeral Services will be held at Frank Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. Pastor Dean Apel of Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Wichita, KS will officiate. Interment will follow of the service at Prairie Lawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 from 1:00 – 9:00 P.M. The family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.

A memorial has been established with Harry Hynes Hospice. Contributions can be left or mailed to the funeral home.
