IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joy Marie
Will
February 18, 1947 – June 23, 2022
On June 23, 2022, Joy Marie Will, loving mother, grandmother, and sister passed to the great beyond. Joy is survived by her children Joshua (Amellie) Will, and Lindsey (Ibrahim) Majekodunmi, grandsons Finn, Reed, Xavier and Zander and brother Brad Weigle. She is preceded in death by her parents Lyman and Mary Weigle, her brother Stuart and sister Jean.
Joy was born in Winfield, Kansas on February 18, 1947. She earned her bachelors degree from Southwestern College and her masters degree from The College of New Jersey. Joy was known to many as a compassionate, adventurous, confident, and thoughtful soul. She loved taking care of family and friends, and was always willing to help out those in need. One of her favorite ways to assist was by hosting or planning a good party.
Joy's number one passion was children, whether it was her two own, or all of the students she taught during her long career in education. Her teaching career took her on many different adventures both close to home and in far and distant lands. Through the years she recounted many funny and moving stories from her time as an educator, many times ending up with people crying from laughter and/or rolling on the floor in hysterics. From her first year as a teacher in the grade schools of inner city Kansas City, through starting the Wee Too Preschool at the First United Methodist Church in Wellington Kansas, her time at Wichita Collegiate School, the International School of Islamabad, and Khartoum American School to name a few, she always had a positive impact on her students, the mood and culture of wherever she was hanging her hat at that time.
In accordance with her wishes of sending her off with one "last" party she had planned, a celebration of life will occur on September 24, 2022. Please consider attending for food, drinks, the sharing of Joy Will stories, or just to shine the white light. Joy continues to live on through all of our memories and recollections of her and she would want one last party to send her out the right way! For more information email joywill21@live.com .
