Obituary

Joyce Jeannette Ball Whitehead "Maw," 82, of Wellington, passed away March 1, 2019. Joyce was born September 9, 1936 to Benton and Augusta Ball in Washington, North Carolina.

On June 2, 1956 Joyce married the love of her life, James D. Whitehead, Jr. "Jim."   They were blessed with four children and 62 years of marriage.

After their move to Kansas in 1972, Joyce began to study the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses. She was baptized in 1973. Joyce operated a home daycare and was also a foster parent to Damon, Kole and Payton. Joyce loved her family and spoiled every one of them. One of her favorite things was the big family dinners. Maw was loved and will be missed greatly.

Joyce is survived by her husband of 62 years, Jim Whitehead of the home; sister, Nellie Liverman and Graham of Maryland; brother, Lee Ball and Romona of North Carolina; son, Jimmy Whitehead of Wichita; daughter, Donna Williams of Wellington; grandchildren, Jamie Williams, Paul Williams, Lisa Friend and Todd, Jennifer Love, Marc Love, Justin Corter, Jeremy Corter, Jay Whitehead, Tiffany Flyer and Travis; great grandchildren, Harley, Stone, Trey, Treven, Madison, Nicole, Brendin, Preslie, Paige, Katelyn, James, Karizma, Addy Jo, Zach, and Kacie; great great grandchildren, Bently, Hayze and Cylis; and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Benton and Augusta Ball; sisters, May Ball, Lola Cox and David, Ann Harrell and Gilbert, Betty Davenport and Willie all of North Carolina; brothers, Mayhew Ball and Eloise and Troy Ball all of North Carolina; daughters, Laura Lynn Love and Terry, Sharon Corter and Kerry; grandson, James Williams; great great granddaughter, Zena Williams.

Cremation has been affected. There will be no visitation.

Memorial Services will be held on March 9, 2019 at 3:00 P.M. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1200 N. Cherry Street, Wellington, Kansas. Everett Reedy will officiate.

A memorial has been established with the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in lieu of flowers. Contributions can be left at the funeral home
