June Karen McDonald, age 91, passed away on September 28, 2010 at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Wellington, KS.
June K. (Krizek) McDonald was born on June 22, 1919 on the family homestead in southwestern Cloud County, KS to Victor and Rosa (Beck) Krizek. After graduating from Simpson High School in 1936 and a post graduate course in Normal Training at Glasco High School, she taught seven terms in the rural schools of Mitchell County.
June was united in marriage to Clarence McDonald on December 27, 1944 while he was home on furlough during World War II. One daughter, Karen Christine, was born to this union.
June worked side by side with Clarence for many years in their farming operation which included crops and livestock. She was a faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Glasco, KS and was the Librarian at the Glasco City Library for over 20 years. Through the years June enjoyed cooking for her family, her church and library work, and many holiday gatherings and visits with her loved ones.
Surviving to honor her memory are her husband, Clarence McDonald of Wellington, KS; daughter, Karen Christine Heersche and husband Richard; granddaughter, Jennifer Heersche and great grandson, Lane Matthew; grandson, Jeffrey Heersche, his wife Joni and great grandson, Jacob Henry all of Wellington; sister, Darlene Hoesli and husband Max of Minneapolis, KS; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Cremation has been effected. Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
Memorial Contributions in her name may be made to the Glasco City Library or to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, both in Glasco, KS. Contributions can be left at the funeral home.
