Junior "Curly" V. Edgerton, age 81, long time Wellington resident, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2009 in Wellington, KS. He was a retired welder for Plessey Midwest after 25 years of employment.

Junior V. Edgerton was born February 24, 1928 to Elmer A. and Lola E. (Layton) Edgerton in Homewood, KS. He served in the United States Navy from 1946-1948.

Junior V. Edgerton married Anna L. Klein on June 30, 1951 in Wichita, KS. She preceded him in death on March 26, 2001.

Curly enjoyed family gatherings, bowling, dancing, Chiefs football, and KU Basketball. He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Anna and one great granddaughter, Abagail Edgerton.

He is survived by two sons, Jeff Edgerton and his wife Shanna, of Haysville, KS and Joe Edgerton of Wellington, KS; two daughters, Marjie Taylor and Bridget Cody, both of Wellington, KS; one sister, Marjie Mills of San Antonio, TX; 12 grandchildren, Heather Kimball, Jeremy Harris, Lisa Haydorn, Holly Vargas, Conita Burden, Jennifer Seals, Sabrina Cody and Jacob Cody, all of Wellington, KS, Adam Edgerton, of Belle Plaine, KS, Tiffany McCann, of Winfield, KS, Jessica Edgerton, Jonathon Edgerton and Justin Edgerton, all of Haysville, KS; 30 great grandchildren; and his long time companion, "Buddy" the dog.

A Rosary will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at 7:00 P.M. and Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. both at St. Anthony's/St. Rose Catholic Church. Father Andrew E. Heiman will officiate.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 3, 2009 from 4:00 - 9:00 P.M. and Wednesday, March 4, 2009 from 9:00 - 5:00 P.M.

Memorials have been established with the Wellington Food Bank and the Wellington Humane Society. Memorials can be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
