Kathryn JoAnn Langley, age 82, passed away October 18, 2010 at Clare Bridge Assisted Living Center in Wichita, KS. Through the years she worked as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell, a telephone operator for 11 years at Boeing Aircraft, and as Procurement Officer for 27 years at McConnell Air Force Base.
Kathryn JoAnn (Craig) Langley was born on February 16, 1928 in Wellington, KS to Joseph H. Craig and Kathrine F. (Moore) Craig. She was raised in Wellington and was a Wellington High School graduate, Class of 1945. She was a Wichita resident for most of her adult life.
JoAnn was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, the American Legion Auxiliary for 70 years, WSU S.A.S.O., WSU Battery Club, Women in Philanthropy, and Hallmark Collectors. She was an avid WSU Shocker fan, a scout leader for Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, and was Federal Women's Employee of the Year in 1974.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Francis Craig.
Survivors include her two sons, Jeff Langley of Wichita, KS and John (Nancy) Langley of Racine, WI; two grandchildren, Jason (Nancy) Langley of Hansford, WV and Shannon (Tim) Doherty of Waterford, WI; and three great grandchildren, Carter Langley and J. R. and Ben Doherty.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Wichita, KS. Pastor Dave Fulton will officiate. Interment will be held at 2:00 P.M. at Sumner Memorial Gardens in Wellington, KS.
Visitation will be held at Frank Funeral Home in Wellington, KS on Friday, October 22, 2010 from 1:00 – 8:00 P.M. The family will be present to greet friends at the funeral home from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Visitation will also be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on Saturday prior to the services from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M.
Memorials have been established with the JoAnn Langley Women's Basketball Endowment Scholarship Fund and the Wellington American Legion Auxiliary. Contributions can be left at the funeral home or the church.
