Lacy Alan Simmons, age 64, of South Haven, KS passed away Saturday, July 11, 2020 at the Sumner County District Hospital #1 in Caldwell, KS.

Lacy was born on May 16, 1956 in El Dorado, KS to Kenneth Simmons and Ruby (Dodson) Simmons.

He moved to South Haven when he was in the 7 ^th grade. He ruled the football field during his high school years. He met his wife, Susan while working at Welco in 1979. They were married for 37 years and raised two children, Kim and Jake.

Lacy was a simple man who loved his family and friends dearly. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. He was usually quiet, but once you got him started, he could talk your ear off.

Lacy loved his small town and called it home. He didn't like flying because he was a CNC machinist for 27 years and used to make the aircraft parts. He didn't like the idea of traveling by sea because didn't want to be shark bait. His preferred method of travel was by motorcycle, specifically Harley Davidson, not the "boom boom yucks," as Jake used to call them when he was little. He loved working at South Haven School for the past 14 years. He loved tinkering with his toys in the garage, going fishing with Jake, taking care of his yard, drinking coffee uptown at the Muffin Top or Richard's and watching Forged in Fire. He liked to stay busy so as not to miss out on anything life had to offer.

Lacy will be deeply missed. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth; uncle, Herman; and his granddog, Chopper.

He is survived by his wife, Susan; daughter, Kim; son, Jake; mother, Ruby; sister, Belinda; aunt, Ruth; nephew, Joey; cousins, Pam, Patty and Mike; and granddog, Charlie.

A memorial celebration will be held at the South Haven School when circumstances allow.

A memorial has been established with the American Diabetes Association. Contributions can be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
