LaRee Joan Auzat, age 89, of Wellington, passed away on November 20, 2022 at William Newton Hospital in Winfield, KS.  LaRee was a registered nurse and worked for many years at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, KS.

LaRee was born on December 30, 1932 in Wellington, KS to Robert Newton McLain and Blanche Leoma (Ryan) McLain.

LaRee was a mother, grandmother and friend that always made sure your safety was top priority. Whether it was measuring her grandkids heads for bicycle helmets or making sure everyone was up to date on the latest bad weather, she always made sure everyone was taken care of.  This comes as no surprise since LaRee wanted to be a nurse since she was a little girl and began her nursing career at the young age of 21.  She was a lover of dancing, gardening, baking, being a nurse, and laughing while surrounded by friends and family.  Her laugh, even if you have only heard it once, is something you will never forget.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Marlys Lowe; and one brother, Selby McLain.

Survivors include her three children, Mark Auzat of Oxford, Lori Campbell and her husband Scott of Wellington, and Tami Crowe and her husband Jack of Wellington; two brothers, Brad McLain and his wife Roxanne of Wellington and Brent McLain of Wellington; one sister, Judy Wiley of Wellington; and sister-in-law Marilyn McLain of Omaha, NE; four grandchildren, Brendan Auzat, Jenna Auzat, Mekenna Crowe, and Reagan Shelton.

Funeral Services will be held at Frank Funeral Home in Wellington, KS on Monday, November 28, 2022 at 11:00 A.M.  Pastor Bob Nusser will officiate.  Interment will follow at the service at Sumner Memorial Gardens in Wellington, KS.

There will be no Visitation.

A memorial has been established with the Wellington Food Bank in lieu of flowers.  Memorials can be mailed to or left at the funeral home.
