Larry Ray Martin, age 64, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, December 31, 2008 at Slate Creek Deseret Nursing Home in Wellington. Larry was a Wellington resident for most of his life except for the last year he had been residing in Caldwell. He was a retired Social Worker for the State of Kansas, a school teacher, and for eight years a bookkeeper at Martin Electric.

Larry Ray Martin was born on July 15, 1944 in Wellington, KS to Donald Ray Martin and Winona Marcel (Troutman) Martin. He was a graduate of the WHS Class of 1963 and also a graduate of Pittsburg State University.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include three brothers, Dennis Martin and his wife Susan of Caldwell, KS, Tony Martin and his wife Angela of Wellington, KS, and Tim Martin and his wife Paula of Peck, KS; seven nieces and nephews; and eight great nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, January 5, 2009 at the First Christian Church in Wellington. Pastor Steve Allen and Pastor Don Bryant will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Sumner Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, January 4, 2009 from 1:00 – 9:00 P.M. The family will greet friends from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M.

Memorials have been established with the First Christian Church in Wellington or Central Christian Church in Caldwell, KS.
