LaVern Daniel Woody, age 96, of Oxford, KS, formerly of Wellington, KS, passed away September 18, 2021 at the Medicalodges in Oxford, KS. He worked for many years and retired as an electrician for the Santa Fe Railroad.
LaVern was born on June 22, 1925 in Topeka, KS to Daniel B. Woody and May Ida "Seeys" Woody.
He proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII from November 10, 1942 to January 17, 1946.
On October 21, 1963 LaVern married Nathalee Marie "Teddie" Mooningham. She preceded him in death in 2004.
LaVern enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nathalee; sons, Pete, Logan and Billy Mooningham; and daughters, Carma Doubot and Patsy Connely.
Survivors include his children, Connie Nirschl, Betty Carol King, Patricia Mooningham, Bobby Ziy and Paul Mooningham; brother, Larry Woody and his wife Sondra; 20 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.
Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. at Prairie Lawn Cemetery. Chaplain Don Cross of Rivercross Hospice will officiate.
There will be no visitation.
A memorial has been established with Rivercross Hospice. Contributions can be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
Frank Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
