Leola Jeane Vaughn, age 87, passed away early Tuesday morning, March 16, 2010 at Slate Creek Deseret Nursing Home. She was a retired aircraft worker at G.E.C. Midwest Division. She also worked at Wheat Country Laundry for several years.
Leola Jeane (Bell) Vaughn was born on September 4, 1922 in Riverdale, KS to Enos Ray Bell and Alice Marie (Hindman) Bell. She was a Wellington High School graduate with the Class of 1940.
On June 1, 1940 she married Thomas Samuel "Bud" Vaughn in Oklahoma City, OK. He preceded her in death on January 28, 1986.
Leola is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas "Bud" Vaughn; three sons, Galen Vaughn, Richard Vaughn, and Wayne Vaughn; one sister, Bonnie Ruth Moser; and great grandson, Matthew Herron; and nephew, Duane Claiborne.
Survivors include her son, Thomas "Jimmy" Vaughn of Great Bend, KS; two daughters, Judy Blecha and her husband Dick of Wichita, KS and Carolyn Hinkle and her husband Steve of Wellington, KS; 14 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and niece, Yvonna Tozier of Mulvane, KS.
Graveside Services will be held on Friday, March 19, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Prairie Lawn Cemetery. Mr. Brian Stafford will officiate.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, March 18, 2010 from 1:00 – 8:00 P.M. The family will be present to greet friends from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M.
A memorial has been established with Hospice Care of Kansas. Contributions can be left at the funeral home.
