Lucerne Marie Barry, age 99, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away early Friday morning, September 30, 2011 at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Wellington.

Lucerne Marie (Ehlers) Barry was born on November 28, 1911 in Perth, KS to William Ehlers and Ada M. (Richards) Ehlers. She was a Wellington High School graduate with the Class of 1930.

She married Velmar "Doc" Barry on July 7, 1934 in Perry, OK. He preceded her in death in 1975.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, working with the Mayfield Friendship Meals program, and attending the Mayfield Federated Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Velmar; two sons, Dwayne and Marvin Barry; three grandchildren, Joni Ford and Kevin and Marla Hutchinson; son-in-law, Gary Hutchinson; three brothers; and one sister.

Survivors include her two daughters, Marlene Hines and her husband Dale of Wellington, KS and Ginny Mortimer and her husband Jerry of Milan, KS; three grandchildren, Julie Jenkins of Wellington, KS, Larry Ford and Jeff Mortimer of Mayfield, KS; and one great grandchild, Laci Jenkins of Winfield, KS; many nieces and nephews; and her friends at the Golden Living Center.

Funeral Services will be held at the Mayfield Federated Church in Mayfield, KS on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Frank DeFisher will officiate. Interment will follow the service at the Osborne Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 from 1:00 – 8:00 P.M.

A memorial has been established with the Mayfield Community Building Fund in lieu of flowers. Contributions can be left at the funeral home.
