Marjorie Helen Mirt, age 89, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2008 at Golden Living Center in Wellington, KS.
Marjorie Helen Mirt was born on September 28, 1918 in Wellington, KS to Clarence "Whitey" Mirt and Helen Marie (Hatfield) Mirt. She left Kansas as a young woman to live and work in Oklahoma and then California. She returned to Wellington after she retired at the age of 80.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved son, Jack Lee Mirt; three brothers, Robert, Clarence G. "Dude", and Richard Mirt; and one sister, Virginia Rutzen.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Petty Mirt; she was the dear grandmother of four grandchildren, Debby Mirt, Catherine Heintz and her husband Jon, Thad Mirt and his wife Christina, and Marcus Mirt and his wife Maya; and cherished great grandmother of nine great grandchildren, Veronica, Dominick, Amanda, Theresa, Thomas, Maggie, Joseph, Mary, and James. She will also be fondly remembered by sisters-in-law Mae, Colleen, and Desi. She is also survived by Marsha Byler, Kim and Trevor Mirt, and many other nieces and nephews.
Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at Sumner Memorial Gardens. The Reverend Brent Clayton of the First United Methodist Church will officiate.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 27, 2008 from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. The casket will remain closed.
A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society. Memorials can be mailed or left at the funeral home.
