Marjorie Ruth Slothower passed from this life on April 13, 2008 at Hearthstone Assisted Living Center in Conroe, TX at the age of 93.
Marjorie Ruth (Stamm) Slothower was born on April 1, 1915 in Wellington, KS to Thomas R. and Myrtle (Gregson) Stamm.
Marjorie married Kenneth H. Slothower on September 27, 1936 at the First Christian Church in Wellington, KS. To this union were born two daughters, Janice Ann and Sondra Mae.
Marjorie was always an avid gardener and loved growing vegetables and flowers. Many times during harvest she drove a truck to haul wheat to the elevator. She was active in the Central Christian Church in Caldwell, KS where she sang in the choir and served as a deaconess. She was a charter member of the Drury Star EHU. She also served as a 4H club leader for eight years. She loved to bowl, sew and knit.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth; her daughter, Sondra; and her brother, Russell Stamm.
Survivors include her daughter Janice Wooderson and her husband Jack of Conroe, TX; two sisters, Pauline Thomas of Wellington, KS and Wanda Beason of Wichita, KS; three grandsons, Rick Wooderson and his wife Jo of Hutchinson, KS, Randy Wooderson of Wichita, KS, and Ronnie Wooderson and his wife Helena of Pembroke Pines, FL; six great grandchildren; two step-great grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren. She will be missed very much by her family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at the First Christian Church in Wellington, KS on April 18, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. Pastor Ron Dow will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Sumner Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, April 17, 2008 from 1:00 – 9:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with The First Christian Church in Wellington, KS, the Central Christian Church in Caldwell, KS, and the Alzheimer's Association.
