Obituary

Marjy Louise Cottle, age 97, passed away at her home in South Haven, Kansas on Tuesday, July 18, 2023.
She was born the daughter of John F. and Dolly R. (Spangler) Lantz in Wellington, Kansas on December 16, 1925. Marjy was the youngest of five children.
She joined the South Haven Methodist Church in 1938. Upon graduating from South Haven High School in 1943 she went to work in Wellington for Dr. H.D. and Sarah Blanchat. In 1946 she married Alvin L. Sims in Caddo, Oklahoma and was an Air Force wife for 17 years. In 1966 she moved to Pasadena, California and was a Pharmacist Assistant. In 1972 she married Robert W. Thompson formerly from Beatville, Kentucky. When Bob retired from Baker-Hughes Oil Co. in 1979 they left sunny California and moved to Granbury, Texas. Bob was an artisan with wood and kept busy doing shows. After losing Bob with leukemia in 1994, Marjy remained in Texas until 2000. She met Freddie Cottle at a high school alumni event in 1998 and the courtship began. They were married in Eureka Springs, Arkansas in 2001. Marjy was now a farmer's wife, back home in Kansas and in the church she grew up in and always loved.

Survivors include nieces: Joanne (Charles) Pritchett of Ponca City, OK; Dolly (John) Casko of Melborne, FL; Jane Clark of Independence, MO; and Mary Paxson of Argonia, KS; great nieces and nephews: Lori (Mike) Shannon of Guymon, OK; Shane Blakesley of Peru, KS; Michael Casko of Melborne, FL; Kathy Rose of Melborne, FL; Robert (Maryanne) Casko of Melborne, FL; Micah (Carina) Clark of Napa, CA; Patrick Paxson of Diamond, MO; Jason (Julie) Paxson of Harper, KS; Jonathan Paxson of Argonia, KS; Paul (Kayla) Paxson of Argonia, KS;  ; Sue Snyder of South haven, KS; Cara (Rob) Bodick of Ponca City, OK; Mark (Lyn) Hollingsworth of Aiken, NC; Scott Hollingsworth of Austin, TX; great-great nephew Steve Snyder of South Haven, KS; great-great niece Megan Barton of Colorado Springs, CO along with numerous other family members.

Preceding her in death are her parents, husbands, nieces: Francene Snyder, Barbara Swanson, and Helen Clark; nephews: Kurt Lantz, John Lantz, Stanton Hollingsworth, and John Bert Clark along with numerous other family members.

A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, July 24, 2023 with her family present to receive guests from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Funeral services for Marjy will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at the South Haven Community Church, 314 N. Main St., South Haven, Kansas. Interment will take place following service at the Rose Hill Cemetery, South Haven, Kansas.

Memorial contributions can be given in her name to the South Haven Community Church, 314 N. Main St., South Haven, Kansas, 67140. Contributions can be mailed or left with the funeral home.
