Obituary

Marvin Glee Mason, age 71, passed away on August 3, 2008 at Via Christi St. Joseph Hospital in Wichita, KS after a brief illness.

Marvin Glee Mason was born and raised on a farm Northeast of South Haven, KS on May 20, 1937 to Glee and Leota Mason. He attended school in South Haven and graduated from South Haven High School with the Class of 1955. He then played football for Cowley County Community College on a football scholarship and graduated two years later.

He married Ardelia Dziedzic early in life. They made their home in Wellington, KS. where Marvin worked for many years for Johnson Oil Company. They later moved to Odessa, TX where he worked for the Atlantic Richfield Oil Company for 18 years. He took an early retirement several years ago which allowed them to spend most of their time in the Valley at Donna, TX where Marvin did a lot of square dance calling. He also took care of all the music jam sessions at the many parks in the area. Ardelia passed away November 2, 1992.

He then married Irene Henderson in the Spring of 1993. They were married for 14 years before she passed away. During those years they spent a lot of time traveling around the country seeing family and friends and spending time in the Valley and at Irene's home in Canadian, TX.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ardelia and his wife, Irene.

Survivors include his fiancée, Judy Rogers of Donna, TX; step-son, Johnny Dziedzic and his wife Lynn of Arkansas City, KS; Irene Henderson's family; brother, Melvin Mason and his wife Mary of Wellington, KS; a sister, Mildred Kralicek of Independence, MO; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at Frank Funeral Home on Friday, August 8, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. Pastor Kerry Hervey will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Rose Hill Cemetery in South Haven, KS.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, August 8, 2008 from 12:00 Noon to service time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with the American Diabetes Association and the Oklahoma Baptist Retirement Center in Oklahoma City, OK. Contributions can be left at or mailed to Frank Funeral Home.
