Mary Lee King, age 93, Wellington resident, passed away on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at Homestead Assisted Living of Wellington where she had been a resident for the past month.  Her husband was by her side.

Mary Lee (Gaskill) King was born on October 22, 1928 in Mayfield, KS to Loyal M. Gaskill and Leona (Blunk) Gaskill.

Mary Lee Gaskill married James E. King on February 26, 1944 at the First Christian Church Parsonage in Wellington, KS.

Mary Lee was a lifelong Wellington resident who was active in First Christian Church and Eastern Star for many years.  She enjoyed traveling and camping in her younger years with Jimmy as well as family and friends.  She also enjoyed jigsaw puzzling and playing games with her family.  She will be missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Gloria Roberts and infant baby Linda King; two granddaughters, Debby Wood and Abby King; four sisters, Emma Fern Hetrick, Betty Jean Gressel, Ada Marie Baker, and Vera Maxine Baker; one brother, Loyal Wayne "Pete" Gaskill.

Survivors include her husband of 77 years, James E. King of Wellington; son, Steve King and his wife Sheila of Wellington; daughter, Janet Wirths and her husband Gary of Shell Knob, MO; son-in-law, Maurice Roberts of Wellington; sister, Naomi Crossley of Oakley, KS; grandchildren, Becky Brecheisen and her husband Mike of Viola, KS and Andy King and his wife Heather of Washington, OK; and two great granddaughters, Alyssa Arbuckle and her husband Colton and Kenzie King.

Graveside Services will be held at Prairie Lawn Cemetery on Monday, January 10, 2022 at 11:00 A.M.  Pastor James Byers of the First Christian Church will officiate.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, January 9, 2022 from 1:00 – 5:00 P.M.

A memorial has been established with the First Christian Church in lieu of flowers.  Contributions can be left at the funeral home.
