Mary Louise King, age 97, loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away Thursday, September 6, 2007 at Alterra Sterling House in Wellington, KS. She was a homemaker and a Wellington resident since 1931. She also served as bookkeeper for her and George's construction company, "G. E. King Construction."
Mary Louise (Goodman) King was born on October 25, 1909 in Newburgh, IN to Charles Goodman and Agnes (Shaffer) Goodman.
On February 10, 1932 she married George E. King at Newkirk, OK. He preceded her in death on November 19, 1989.
She was an active member of the First Christian Church and CWF and also a 50 year member of the Phoenix Chapter #159 Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed helping and serving others, spending time with her family and friends, and music.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband George; one sister Alvirda Crabtree; and a great granddaughter Debra Wood.
She is survived by one son, James King and his wife Mary Lee of Wellington, KS; one daughter Mary Lou Murray and her husband John of Ponca City, OK; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at 10:30 A.M. at the First Christian Church. Pastor Sallie Shore will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Prairie Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, September 9, 2007 from 2:00 – 5:00 P.M. and on Monday, September 10, 2007 from 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. The family will be present to greet friends on Monday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.
Memorials have been established with the First Christian Church and Alterra Sterling House. Contributions can be left or mailed to the funeral home.
