Mary Ethel McKee was born on October 31, 1925, in Sumner County, KS to Carl and Thelma Wright of Mayfield, KS and passed away at the age of 92 on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at St. Mary's Manor in Blue Springs, MO. She was married for 67 years to Harold Everett McKee. She is preceded in death by her husband, father, mother and her brother Kenneth Wright. Survivors include her two sons, Maurice (Mac) McKee and wife Kathie of Blue Springs, MO and Darryl McKee of Blue Springs, MO; Three granddaughters, Kimberly Riesberg and husband Michael of Dallas Center, IA, Lisa Thibault and husband Tom of Blue Springs, MO and Shellie Mitchell and husband Paul of Lebanon, MO; two great granddaughters, seven great grandsons and two great-great grandchildren; brother Charles Wright and wife June of Newton, KS, sisters Patricia Graves of Wellington, KS Shirley Garrity of Oklahoma City, OK, and sister-in-law Margaret Wolf of Bonner Springs, KS.
Mary was formerly a lifelong resident of Wellington, KS, before moving to Blue Springs, MO, in 2008 to be near her son and family. She worked for Lewis Nugen for 29 years, first as a secretary when he was Sumner County Attorney and then at Nugen's Abstract and Title Company as a legal secretary, office manager and bonded abstracter.
Mary enjoyed her family and friends immensely, especially spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, playing cards, sewing for herself and family, arts and crafts and became an accomplished painter. She and Harold enjoyed golf and traveling; they summered in Idaho and wintered in Texas, Arizona and California for many years. She was an active member of the First Christian Church of Wellington, KS, where she served as Service Chairman of the Christian Women's Fellowship, Benevolent Committee and as a Deaconess. She also belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary.
Funeral Services will be held at the First Christian Church, 123 W. 9th St, Wellington, KS 67152 at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 25, 2017. Pastor James Byers will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Prairie Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at Frank's Funeral Home on Friday, November 24, 2017 from 1:00 – 8:00 P.M. The family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers you may choose to donate to a memorial that has been established with the First Christian Church or to the Michael J. Fox Foundation (michaeljfox.org) for Parkinson's Disease research. Contributions can also be left at the funeral home.
