Mary Helen Spencer, age 75, loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away Wednesday morning, July 30, 2008 at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Wellington. She was a homemaker and a longtime Wellington resident.
Mary Helen (Yates) Spencer was born on March 12, 1933 in Milan, KS to Leslie M. Yates and Mildred L. (Stephens) Yates.
Mary Helen Yates married Wesley I. Spencer on August 4, 1956 in Belle Plaine, KS. He preceded her in death in March of 1980.
Mary Helen enjoyed knitting, sewing and spending time with her family and friends.
She was a member of the Red Hat Society and the First United Methodist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Wesley, and her brother, Bud Yates.
Survivors include her son, Kevin Spencer of Wellington, KS and her daughter, Beverly Scott and her husband Don of Wellington, KS; six grandchildren, Mike Spencer, Chrissy Gray and her husband Marvin, Joshua Spencer, Chelsea Scott and her husband Silas, Tisha Scott, and Wesley Scott.
Funeral Services will be held at Frank Funeral Home on Monday, August 4, 2008 at
10:30 A.M. Private family interment will be held at the Belle Plaine Cemetery in Belle Plaine, KS.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, August 3, 2008 from 1:00 – 9:00 P.M.
A memorial has been established with the Wellington Humane Society. Contributions can be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
