Obituary

Maurita M. Craven, age 93, loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2011 at Via Christi-St. Joseph Hospital in Wichita, KS.

Maurita M. (Guinn) Craven was born on¬¬¬ October 15, 1917 in Belle Plaine, KS to George L. Guinn and Lulu M. (Walton) Guinn. She was a 1935 graduate of Wellington High School.

Maurita married Roscoe Conway on March 2, 1935 in Newkirk, OK. He passed away on August 23, 1943. On September 14, 1946, Maurita married Jack W. Craven in Wellington. They celebrated 46 years of marriage before his death on November 11, 1992.

Maurita was a life-time member of the Church of Christ. She was involved in the community of Wellington as an active volunteer. Her church and family were very important to her and her positive attitude was an inspiration to many. Up to age 93 she was on the go, she was a "doer." Throughout her life she enjoyed sharing memories both past and present. Most of all it was very important to Maurita to live a Christ-filled life.

Maurita is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Roscoe Conway; her second husband, Jack W. Craven; one son, William A. Conway; four brothers; five sisters; and one granddaughter, Linda Lee Conway.

Survivors include one son, Jack L. Conway of Wichita; one daughter, Tandy D. Craven of Wellington; two brothers, Alfred Guinn (and wife Vi) of Wellington, and Darwin Guinn (and wife Beverly) of Greeley, CO; one sister, Jean Rowe (and husband Del) of Ponca City, OK; six grandchildren, Cathy Sheets (and husband Daryle) of Wellington, Susan Weiser (and husband Tim) of Dallas, TX, Marcia Bartelson (and husband Mike) of Wellington. Also Alex Conway, Houston, TX, Christopher Conway of California, Lawrence Conway, Steven Conway (and wife Effie) and Kelley Christensen (and husband Joe), all of Wichita; 16 great grandchildren; and seven great great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 7, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at the Church of Christ in Wellington. Gary Bodine, minister at the Wellington Church of Christ, will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Wellington.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, March 6, 2011 from 1:00 – 8:00 P.M. The family will be present to greet friends from 3:00 – 4:00 P.M.

A Memorial has been established with the Maude Carpenter Children's Home of Wichita. Memorials can be left at the funeral home.
