Maxine G. McCreary, age 88, loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away on Monday afternoon, January 24, 2011 at Schowalter Villa in Hesston, KS. Maxine had worked at the Mayfield Grocery and Locker and as a cook at the Mayfield School.

Maxine G. (Jameison) McCreary was born on May 30, 1922 in Bluff City, KS to William Jameison and Ella Elenora (Rose) Jameison. She was a graduate of Dexter High School.

Maxine married Harold Bruce McCreary on December 29, 1943 in Winfield, KS. They had celebrated 43 years of marriage before his death on September 27, 1987.

Maxine is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one grandson, William McCreary; two brothers, Dwight and Ross; and two sisters, Dorothy and Rita.

Survivors include her three sons, Patrick McCreary and his wife Janis of Hesston, KS, Steve McCreary and his wife Tudy of Winfield, KS, and Chris McCreary and his wife Sandra of Lee's Summit, MO; eight grandchildren, Bryan McCreary, Jennifer Enns, Jonny McCreary, Mistie Ellis, Derick McCreary, Marcus McCreary, Michelle McCreary, and Jeff McCreary; eight great grandchildren, Allie, Darci, and Cassie Enns, Cole and Maya McCreary, and Trent, Gaige, and Macie Ellis.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the Mayfield Federated Church in Mayfield, KS. Pastor Frank DeFisher will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Osborne Cemetery in Mayfield, KS.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 from 1:00 – 8:00 P.M. The family will be present to greet friends from 7:00 – 8:00 P.M.

Memorials have been established with the Mayfield Federated Church or the First Christian Church. Memorials can be left at the funeral home.
