Melba L. Black, age 79, died August 18, 2009 to be with her Lord. She passed away at Lakepoint Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wichita, KS. She was a retired beautician and former owner of Gwynn's Beauty Shop.
Melba Lee (Williams) Black was born on December 26, 1929 in Toronto, KS to Emery Williams and Dorothy (Matthews) Williams.
She was a member of the First Christian Church and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed dancing, traveling, and volunteering at the Food Bank.
She is preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Richard B. Williams; and her companion Lloyd Sharpsteen.
Survivors include her children, Rick Hunt, Cheryl Rader and her husband Lloyd, and Caroyl Radford. She raised her step-children, Rick Black, and Lynda VonWeller. She is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at Frank Funeral Home on Friday, August 21, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. Chaplain Bill Eichelberger will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Prairie Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, August 20, 2009 from 1:00 – 9:00 P.M. The family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.
