Melissa G. "Missy" Evans, age 59, lifelong Wellington resident, passed away Sunday, November 8, 2020 at her home.   She worked for many years as a finisher at Plessey Midwest and most recently as a custodian at the American Legion.

Melissa was born on May 31, 1961 in Wellington, KS to Manuel R. Soria and Savina H. (Macias) Soria. She attended schools in Wellington and graduated with the WHS Class of 1980.

Melissa was a member of the St. Anthony/St. Rose Catholic Church and Parish. She loved spending time with her family, music, and had a general love of life.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her nephew, Michael Burden.

Survivors include her daughter, Hannah Evans of Wellington; two brothers, Joseph Soria and his wife Lynda and Nick Soria and his wife Dana both of Wellington; three sisters, Felisa Miner and her husband Mike of Aurora, MO, Marcia Burden and her husband Mark and Candy Soria both of Wellington; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family; her constant companion Flash; and best friend Rosemary Williams.

Private Family Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anthony/St. Rose Catholic Church. Father Hung Pham will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Prairie Lawn Cemetery.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Melissa's name with the Wellington Humane Society. Contributions can be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
