Merlin Glen Troutman, Sr., age 81, of Wichita, KS, formerly of Wellington, passed away early Thursday morning, June 7, 2018 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, KS. Merlin owned and operated Troutman Trucking for many years and had a change of career to a real estate investor where he made his fortune.
Merlin was born on September 16, 1936 in Alva, OK to Glen E. Troutman and Jaunita F. (Tracy) Troutman. He was the oldest of four children born to Glen and Jaunita. Merlin was raised in Wellington and graduated from Wellington High School with the Class of 1956.
He married Kathryn Smith in 1958 and four children were born to this marriage, Merlin, Jr., Bruce, Harry, and Barbara. He was divorced in 1975. He then married Deloris J. Dieball Grable on September 20, 1979 in Wellington, KS.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Don Troutman; and one sister Jana Troutman
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Deloris Troutman of Wichita, KS; three sons, Merlin G. Troutman, Jr. of South Haven, KS, Bruce Troutman of Wichita, KS and Harry Troutman of Rockdale, TX; one daughter, Barbara Maley of Haysville, KS; one stepson, Craig Grable of Kansas City; one brother, Richard Troutman of Wichita, KS; 15 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren.
Graveside Services will be held at Sumner Memorial Gardens in Wellington, KS on Monday, June 11, 2018 at 10:00 A.M.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, June 10, 2018 from 1:00 – 8:00 P.M.
A memorial has been established with the Wellington Humane Society in lieu of flowers. Contributions can be mailed or left at the funeral home.
