Obituary
Michael L. Conwell, 68, died Thursday, September 5, 2013 at his home in Wyandotte, OK.
He was born May 1, 1945, in Winfield, KS to Vernon and Alta (Rowe) Conwell.
Mike attended school through the 10th grade in Oxford, KS and graduated from Atwater, California High School in 1963. Following high school, Mike worked several years in the Merchant Marine, sailing out of the Port of San Francisco. Mike served in the U.S. Army, including 18 months in Viet Nam with the 1st BN, 92nd Artillery Company. Mike worked 30 plus years as a welder-pipefitter through Wichita Local #441, before retiring to Grand Lake, OK.
He was a life member of the American Legion Post #81 and VFW Post #1174 of El Dorado, KS and the DAV.
Mike is survived by his companion, Jean St Myers of the home, brother, Rod Conwell and wife Sara, nephews, Bill Conwell, Andy Conwell and wife Trish, great nieces Audrey and Eliza Conwell, all of Wellington, KS.
He was preceded in death by his parents and infant sister, Patricia Ann.
Cremation has taken place. Military burial will be at the Oxford, KS Cemetery, 11:00 A.M., Saturday, September 14, 2013.
Memorial gifts, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Integris Regency Hospice or the Wellington American Legion Post #90 and can be left or mailed to the funeral home.
