Monika Ingrid (Weufen) Stayton died of pancreatic cancer on December 12, 2016.

Monika was born on February 2, in Meiningen, Thuringia, in what was then East Germany. She is the daughter of Harry and Erika (Oppelt) Weufen. On April 19, 1997, Monika and Robert (Rob) G. Stayton were united in marriage in Bavaria, Germany.

After high school, she received further education and earned a certificate as a secretary and worked in her hometown. After her marriage, she moved to Gollachostheim, Bavaria, Germany. In 1998 she moved to Manhattan, KS, and remained there until Rob left the Army in 2001. They moved to Maryland until 2010 when they achieved Monika's dream of moving to Florida. However, Rob's work required another move and with great disappointment she moved to Virginia in April 2016.

Monika loved her daughter, Angelique, dearly and worked hard for many years as a single mother to assist her daughter in every way possible. She was also a wonderful and loving wife who hoped to reach her 20th Wedding Anniversary in April 2017. Even after falling ill, her highest concern was to look after her loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Survivors include her husband, Rob Stayton of Stafford, Virginia; daughter, Angelique Weufen of Frankfurt am Main, Germany; and her mother, Erika Weufen of Meiningen, Germany.

Graveside Services will be held at 9:30 A.M. on Saturday, December 24, 2016 at Osborne Township Cemetery in Mayfield, KS. Everyone is invited to attend.
