Obituary

Norma Lee Waller has been set free and entered into heaven on June 21, 2010 at the age of 83.

She was born on a farm seven miles West and one mile South of Tonkawa, OK, to Ray and Eunice (Smyth) Spencer on November 27, 1926.

Norma attended the rural Pratt Center School Dist. #77. Moving to a farm Southwest of Lamont she finished her schooling and graduated from Lamont High School in 1944. She worked at Boeing in Wichita, KS in the fall of 1944 and Spring of 1945. She returned home to help her father with the wheat harvest and later became a telephone operator in Lamont. She married Harold Hamburg on February 2, 1947 in the original Lamont Christian Church. He and Norma were blessed with three children and built two houses there before to moving to Wellington in 1958 as Harold was hired to run the Amsden Lumber Yard. Norma worked part time at St. Lukes Hospital until 1963 when Darla was born. Harold preceded her in death on September 1, 1966. She went back to school and received her LPN license in June 1976. She was married to Clarence Waller on August 5, 1976 until his death on May 11, 2004.

Norma enjoyed her Bible, gardening, cooking, music, and especially her grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; two brothers Jack and Don Spencer; and one sister, Doris Frazier.

Survivors include her four children, Mel Hamburg and Dee, Nancy Colwell and Paul, Darla Carroll and Shane all of Wellington, Dory Hamburg and husband Harold Butterfield of Columbia, MO, step-son, Vinton Waller and Ramona of LaJuanta, CO; step-daughter, Karolyn Schlesener and Verl of Herington, KS; one sister, Wilda Jean Mendenhall of Pasco, WA; 22 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and many good friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 24, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at the First Christian Church in Wellington. Pastor Don Bryant will officiate. Interment will follow the service at the Lamont Cemetery in Lamont, OK.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 from 2:00 – 8:00 P.M. The family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.

Memorials have been established with the First Christian Church and the Gideons International Memorial Bible Program. Contributions can be left or mailed to the funeral home.
