Opal Evelyn Davis, age 82, life long Argonia and Conway Springs area resident, passed away at her home on Sunday, September 30, 2007. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Opal Evelyn (Southwick) Davis was born on November 17, 1924 at Milan, KS to Wayne W. Southwick and Hallie Pearl (Yearout) Southwick.

She married Leonard Carroll Davis on February 15, 1941 in Anthony, KS. He preceded her in death on September 7, 2000.

Opal was the former owner of Opal's Café in Milan, KS for ten years. She also cooked at the Caldwell Sales Company for over seven years where she was well known for her delicious chicken and noodles and hamburgers. She loved to sew, quilt, and embroider. She made many beautiful quilts through the years for her grandchildren. She also enjoyed fishing, gardening, and live theatre productions. She attended church at both the Friends Church and the First Baptist Church in Argonia, KS.

Opal is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leonard, and one brother Dewey Southwick.

Survivors include three sons, Gary Davis and his wife Brenda of Caldwell, KS, Kenneth Davis and his wife Cathy of Wellington, KS, and Robert "Bob" Davis and his wife Debbie of Norwich, KS; two daughters, Patty Tracy and her husband Gary of Milan, KS and Mary Phillips and her husband Don of Argonia, KS; one brother-in-law Ivan Davis of Coyville, KS and one sister-in-law Evalyn Southwick of Derby, KS; 13 grandchildren, Rosellen Luttrell, Steven Tracy, Roxann Davis, Melinda Nelson, Clint Davis, Crystal Koontz, Erik Davis, Erin Davis, Chad Davis, Jarrod Davis, Robyn Haxton, Kelly Phillips, and Kevin Phillips; 24 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. at the Friends Church in Argonia, KS. Pastor Mike Neifert and Pastor Charles Jenkins will officiate. Interment will follow the service at the Milan Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 2, 2007 from 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M.

Memorials have been established with Argonia E.M.S., the First Baptist Church in Argonia, and the Friends Church in Argonia. Contributions can be left or mailed to the funeral home.
