IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Pamela Maurie
Webster
November 1, 1936 – August 5, 2022
Pam Webster, age 85, passed away Friday, August 5, 2022 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita, KS.
She was born November 1, 1936 in Wichita, KS to Irwin and MauRie (Hileman) McKnight.
She was a 1955 graduate of Wellington High School.
Pam married Willard Webster on July 28, 1955 on the WHS football field during the Wheat Festival and they rode a "cake" float in the festival parade.
Pam was a wonderful wife and homemaker as was blessed to stay home to raise her children.
After her children were in school, she was a bookkeeper for Kloefkorn Chevrolet until she retired. She loved to garden, bowl, and play cards. The bird feeders were seldom empty as they brought her so much joy. You didn't leave the house until you put at least one puzzle piece in one of her always going puzzles. If you were in her home, you ate....hungry or not.
Her greatest gift in life was her six children, 17 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Aside from what you might hear, she doesn't have a favorite. Family gatherings were always chaos and she would say "did I cause all of this mess?" Usually we got a little wild and she would say "I didn't teach you kids to behave like that"! Yes, this was after we were all adults. As the stories got crazy it was "why am I just now hearing about this"? BUT, if you were called by your first AND middle name, look out!
Pam is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Willard and her son, Jay.
Pam is survived by son, Tim (Jennie); Debbi Winter; Dana Webster; Randy Webster (Missy); Dianna Calvin (Tom), and daughter-in-law, Deb; 17 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren.
The grandkids honor her with their memories:
*When babysitting me, at nap time grandma would say "first one asleep wins the prize"!! I was 13 before I figured this one out. (Carmen)
*The first thing I ever learned to cook, with grandma, was chip beef gravy on toast. I loved spending this time with her. Grandpa, the taste tester, loved it too! (Andy)
*Sitting on the bed, watching the birds on the feeder, while looking at the bird book, trying to name each one. (Matt)
*When eating beets at grandmas, you could never leave the table, even to get more for fear of the mess. So Carmen, Candace and I would paint each others lips with beets. It was our "lipstick". (Crystal)
*Grandmas garden was so big, when I was little, everything taller than me, like a story book place. I loved helping her pick tomatoes, cucumbers, squash and okra. (Shane)
*Five Yatzee in a row???? No one could pull that off but grandma. Then treat ourselves to a bowl of three bean salad. (Eric)
* When you are born right next door to grandma, you can't be spoiled rotten....well maybe, I was the Princess! (Jamie)
*Her kitchen always smelled of fresh garden vegetables, a memory I will always have and that is why I continued, until she left us, to bring her vegetables from the garden. (Chris)
*Grandma taught me letters and numbers with a deck of cards. But it was really a trick, so I would know how to play pitch with her by the time I was 5. (Jason)
* By the time I came along, there were already several grandkids. I loved when I spent the night, just me and we would do puzzles and she would let me have coffee with grandpa. Don't tell my parents. (Angela)
*I was always so excited when grandma said, "let's have some pop", only to get to the kitchen to find one bottle of Dr. Pepper divided in six glasses. (Candace)
*My first newborn bath was given by my grandma. We would pick vegetables from the garden and mulberries until our hands were blue, and maybe a little on my mouth. I loved her reading to me, playing cards and eating popcorn. (Bridgette)
**She was the most beautiful pattern of beauty on the fabric of Love**
