Pedro "Pete" Gomez, age 79, passed away Friday morning, September 4, 2009 in Belle Plaine, KS. Pete worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for many years and retired from the City of Wellington Sanitation Department after many years of service.

Pedro "Pete" Gomez was born on April 19, 1930 in Belle Plaine, KS to Ysabel Gomez and Gavina (Morquecho) Gomez. He was raised in Belle Plaine, KS and lived most of his adult life in Wellington, KS. Pete moved back to Belle Plaine after retiring.

Survivors include two sisters, Teofila Luna of Sedgwick, KS and Lupe Rico of Belle Plaine, KS; and many nieces and nephews.

A Vigil Service will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at 7:00 P.M. at St. Anthony's/St. Rose Catholic Church and Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Wellington, KS. Father Andrew E. Heiman will officiate.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 from 10:00 A.M. – 6:00 P.M.

A memorial has been established with the Harry Hynes Hospice. Contributions can be left at the funeral home.
