Phyllis J. Sharpsteen, age 73, passed away at Kansas Medical Center in Andover, KS on Wednesday morning, October 8, 2008.
Phyllis J. Garlow Sharpsteen was born on January 10, 1935 in Attica, KS to James T. and Allene (Coslett) Garlow.
Phyllis married Donald Lee "Dooley" Sharpsteen on February 16, 1985 at the First Christian Church in Wellington. He preceded her in death in July of 2001.
She enjoyed spending time and playing with her great grandchildren. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dooley; and sister, Betty Hubbard.
Survivors include her three daughters, Cindy Zoglmann and her husband John, Sandy Kemp and her husband Steve, and Sonja Sandell and her husband Jeff all of Wellington; two sisters, Shirley Stocker and her husband Mike and JoAnn Helm and her husband Jerry; seven grandchildren, Jason and his wife Jaime Zoglmann, Holly and her husband Jason Rausch, Brande and her husband Kevin Beggs, Jacob Wilcox, Garrett and his wife Donna Sandell, Shelbe and her husband Monty Blankenship, and Morgyn and her husband T. J. Cain; and 10 great grandchildren.
Graveside Services will be held on Friday, October 10, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at Sumner Memorial Gardens. Pastor Don Bryant will officiate.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, October 9, 2008 from 9:00 – 5:00 P.M. and on Friday from 9:00 A.M. to Noon. The casket will remain closed.
A memorial has been established with the Scleroderma Foundation. Memorials can be mailed to or left at the funeral home.
