Robert E. Goodrum, age 65, devoted husband, father, and grandfather passed away at his home in Wellington on Sunday evening, August 27, 2006 surrounded by his loving family. Bob was a former co-owner of Machine Products along with his father and also worked as a CNC Programmer for Precision Machining and Stellex. He retired in 2001.
Robert E. Goodrum was born on August 19, 1941 in Wichita, KS to Vernon Edgar Goodrum and LoRee (Brown) Goodrum. He was raised in the Mayfield area and graduated from Wellington High School with the Class of 1959. He moved to Wellington in 1963.
Robert E. Goodrum married Judy Ann Cole on August 16, 1966 in Kingman, KS. They had just recently celebrated their 40th Wedding Anniversary.
Bob was an avid golfer and a member of the Wellington Golf Association. He was also an avid KU and Crusader fan. He enjoyed all sporting events and particularly loved watching his children and grandchildren participate. He was a life member of the Wellington Elks Lodge and also a member of the Elks Ritual Team.
Robert E. Goodrum is predeceased in death by one son Michael Steven Goodrum.
Survivors include his wife Judy Goodrum of Wellington, KS ; one son Brian Goodrum of Wellington, KS; two daughters Lori Phelps and her husband Rick of Wellington, KS and Amy Mott and her husband Bill of Wellington, KS; parents Vernon and LoRee Goodrum of Mayfield, KS; one brother Dick Goodrum and his wife Rose of Mayfield, KS; two sisters Marilyn Howell and her husband Corky of Wellington, KS and Judy Moser and her husband Doug of Wellington, KS; mother-in-law Dorothy Cole of Wellington, KS; grandchildren Courtney Goodrum, and Connor and Cade Phelps; and many aunts, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at 10:30 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow the service at Sumner Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 29, 2006 from 1:00 – 9:00 P.M. The family will greet friends from 7:00 – 9:00 P.M.
A memorial has been established with WHS.CC Scholarship Fund in lieu of flowers.
