Robert Vincent Long, age 93, Wellington resident since 1951, passed away Tuesday morning, March 10, 2015 at Sumner County Care Center. Bob was a retired electrician for Boeing Aircraft.
Robert was born on April 12, 1921 in Anthony, KS to George W. Long and Elberta (Countryman) Long. He served in the Army Signal Corp during WWII.
Robert married Glennys C. Powers on March 31, 1951 in Omaha, NE. She passed away on August 13, 1981. He then married Hazel (Wygle) Wescott Sims on April 23, 1983 in Wichita, KS. She passed away on April 3, 2002.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Glynnys Long and second wife, Hazel Long; sister, Betty Ann Watts; and step-son, Don Wescott.
Survivors include his three children, Robert Terrance "Terry" Long and his wife Dixie of Highlands Ranch, CO, Debra K. Augilera and her husband Gabriel of Derby, KS, and Cheryl Ann Byers and her husband Dean of Wellington, KS; brother, Richard Long of Lone Tree, CO; two step-sons, Daryl and Kenneth Wescott; nine grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at the First Free Will Baptist Church in Wellington on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. Pastor Zane Brooks will officiate. There will be a private burial at Prairie Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, March 13, 2015 from 1:00 – 8:00 P.M.
A memorial has been established with the First Free Will Baptist Church. Contributions can be left at the funeral home.
