Roger Dennis Lansden, age 61, passed away at his home in Tigard, Oregon on July 29, 2009 surrounded by his family and close friends.
Roger Dennis Lansden was born on October 7, 1947 in Wellington, KS to Jack and Dorothy (Gardner) Lansden. He was raised in Wellington and was a WHS graduate with the Class of 1965.
Roger was a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force from July 1967 to July 1971. He served with the 366th Security Police Squadron, DaNang Air Base Viet Nam, from September 1969 to September of 1970. He was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal.
Roger graduated from American River College in Sacramento, CA with a degree in Horticulture. He worked for Columbia Helicopters based in Aurora, Oregon for 33 years. He worked in the logging and lumber division as a Project Manager and Safety Training Coordinator. He was also the Project Manager in stream restoration or "reverse logging" reestablishing the spawning grounds to aid wild salmon.
He enjoyed fishing, metal detecting, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his two children, Dustin Lansden of Tigard, OR and Paige Lansden of Palestine, TX; his parents, Jack and Dorothy Lansden of Cape Coral, FL; one brother, Steve Lansden and his wife Sanetha of Wellington, KS; one sister, Rita Moran and her husband Eddie of Norman, OK; and special friend, Robin Brooks of Lowman, ID.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation.
Graveside Services will be held on Friday, Sepemer 25, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at Prairie Lawn Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with Willamette Falls Hospice in Oregon City, Oregon. Contributions can be mailed to or left at Frank Funeral Home, 417 N. Washington, Wellington, KS 67152.
