Rosie C. Bristow, age 86, passed away at William Newton Memorial Hospital in Winfield, KS on October 1, 2008.
Rosie Carr Bristow was born April 30, 1922 to Rev. Odie Carr and Hazel (Warner) Carr in Wichita. KS. She was the youngest of five children. She completed her formal education in Oklahoma and the Wichita Public School system.
Rosie met and married Mr. Clifford J. Bristow after moving to Wellington, KS.
She was faithful member of the Friendly Second Baptist Church until her health began to fail. Rosie was an avid gardner. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and helping people. She was a dedicated mother and a friend to all. She was employed as a cook and care giver in Wichita and Wellington.
She is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Otis, John, and Joseph Carr; two sons Larry and James Welch; and a step-son, Clifford Bristow, Sr.
Survivors include three step-daughters, Barbara Jones of Denver, CO, Emma Smith of Muskogee, OK, and Arnette Davis of Checotah, OK; one sister, Priscilla Carr of Wellington, KS; grandchildren, Clifford Bristow and his wife Sheleatha of Oklahoma City, OK and Clarissia Bristow of Wellington. She is also survived by a special nephew, Paul Carr of Wellington and a host of great-grandchildren, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Wellington, KS on October 6, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. Interment will follow the service at Prairie Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, October 5, 2008 from 1:00 – 9:00 P.M.
