Ruth was born in Glassboro, New Jersey on April 11, 1922 to John and Elizabeth Monaghan. She grew up in the Vineland, New Jersey area. During World War II, she met Richard F. Moore. They were united in marriage March 5, 1945 in San Diego, California. Following the war, Richard returned to Wellington with his bride.
Ruth was a homemaker, raising four children. When they were older, she went to work for St. Luke's Hospital where she was employed for twenty years, retiring in 1985. She and her husband also enjoyed camping with their friends. She lived out her faith by helping her neighbors in need. Ruth was a member of St. Anthony's parish for over fifty years. During this time she volunteered at the St. Anthony's elementary school, the Altar Society, and the Mission Thrift Shop. Upon the death of her husband in 1995, she spent even more time at the thrift shop. Her friends there became a second family to her.
In August 1999, she moved to Lawrence, Kansas to live with her son, Kevin. During this time, she renewed her interest in crocheting and spent much time with her grandchildren. In November 2002, Ruth traveled to Phoenix, Arizona to live with her eldest son, Gary. In December of 2003, she moved into the Sunshine Village in Phoenix where she spent her remaining years.
Surviving to honor Ruth are her children, Gary Moore and his wife, Suann, of Phoenix, Arizona; Rebecca Newman and her husband, Gene, of Newton, Kansas; Kevin Moore and his wife, Pam, of Lawrence, Kansas; and Leslie Luckhurst and her husband, Mike, of Tavares, Florida. She also leaves behind fourteen grandchildren and twenty-nine great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren include Kiersten Adkins, Olathe, Kansas; Tiffany Marrufo and R. Brien Moore of Phoenix, Arizona; Dustin Ellis, Tulsa, Oklahoma; Dan Ellis, Parrish, Florida; Kim Schartzer, Valley Center; Chris Newman, Wichita, Kansas; Christopher Moore, Gregory Moore, Jennifer Snyder, and Allison Gowing, all of Lawrence, Kansas; Sam Luckhurst of Arizona City, Arizona; Andrew Luckhurst of Mt.
