Obituary

Ruth M. (Riley) Duncan, a former long-time resident of Wellington, Kansas, passed away on the 16th day of October, 2011, in Kingman, Kansas. She was living in the Wheatlands Healthcare facility near her niece, Sharon K. Watkins, and her husband, Curtis E. Watkins.

Ruth was born in Oxford, Kansas, on June 12, 1912, to George Tryon and June (Donley) Tryon. She operated Riley's Jewelry with her husband, Pat, for many years. After his death in 1972, she continued to own and operate the store until she married Byron Duncan on November 26, 1977. They lived in Sun City, Arizona, for many years until Byron passed away. She moved back to the assisted living facility in Wellington, Kansas, in 2002 and then transferred to the Wheatlands Healthcare facility in Kingman, Kansas, to be closer to her niece, Sharon.

Preceding her in death was her brother, Edwin L. Tryon. She is survived by her niece, Sharon K. Watkins, her great-nephews, Jeff and Andy Watkins, and their children, Evan, Josh and Aubrianne. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Wilma Tryon, of Wellington, Kansas.

Funeral Services will be held at Frank Funeral Home, at 417 North Washington, in Wellington, Kansas, on the 19th day of October, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Gib Clark will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Sumner Memorial Gardens.

A memorial has been established with Wheatlands Healthcare Center. Contributions can be left at the funeral home.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 from 1:00 – 8:00 p.m.
