Secundino "Andy" Castaneda, Jr., age 86, loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and Wellington resident, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Sumner Regional Medical Center. Andy retired from the Santa Fe Railroad Bridge Department after 41 years as a carpenter.
Secundino "Andy" Castaneda, Jr. was born on October 19, 1929 in Chicago, IL to Secundino Castaneda and Cristina (Artega) Castaneda.
Andy married Teresa M. Rubio on January 23, 1961 in Tototlan, Jalisco, MEX. Together they celebrated 55 years of marriage.
Andy enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was an active volunteer for the Mission Thrift Shop, a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a Eucharistic Minister for St. Anthony-St. Rose Catholic Church.
He is survived by his loving wife, Teresa M. Castaneda of Wellington, KS; two sons, Jose Castaneda and his wife Melisa of Wellington, KS and Ramiro Castaneda and his wife Cheri of Belle Plaine, KS; one daughter, Silvia Roddy and her husband Richard of Nashville, TN; one brother, Ramiro Castaneda of Guadalajara, MEX; four sisters, Cristina Castaneda of Kansas City, KS, Eva Castaneda, Rosa Castaneda Ocha and Chelo Castaneda Lopez all of Guadalajara, MEX; eight grandchildren, Andrew and Kelsey Castaneda, Mikey & Jordyn Castaneda, Kylea and George Glazier, Kaleb and Johnna Castaneda, Pete and Tiffany Castaneda, Zachary Castaneda, Jake Gehlen, Colton Gehlen, Joshua Castaneda and Maria Roddy; 11 great grandchildren, Kaden, Kaylee, Madison, Mason and Kaytlin Castaneda, Kyler Glazier, Korbin and Fallon Castaneda, Emery and Brady Castaneda and Tristan Castaneda.
Rosary will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at 7:00 P.M. at St. Anthony – St. Rose Catholic Church.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anthony - St Rose Catholic Church on Friday, July 29, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. Father Hung Pham and Father Dwight Birket will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Sumner Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, July 28, 2016 from 10:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.
A memorial has been established with the Wellington Food Bank in lieu of flowers. Contributions can be left at the funeral home.
