IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sharon Jane
Vaughn
August 18, 1946 – April 10, 2024
Sharon Jane (Howe) Vaughn passed April 10th, 2024 following a brief illness. She was born at St. Luke's Hospital in Wellington, KS on August 18th, 1946. Sharon told stories of growing up in a time when children would play outdoors for hours with friends and when large family gatherings squeezed into small homes. There was a love of the recipes passed down from her aunts, whether it was the homemade candies of fudge or divinity or the special fried chicken. She loved watching "the men" out playing horseshoes and the nephews teasing their uncles. She loved the competitive banter at the large table during card games.
Faith and family were the most important things in life to Sharon. As everyone got older and went their separate ways in life, Sharon worked hard to still maintain those connections. She would spend hours in the card aisle finding cards to send for each holiday. Her home was decorated for each holiday or event coming up, as well wearing seasonal clothing that would represent that special time. Sharon loved the Dallas Cowboys and was a huge American football fan.
Sharon was a hard worker. She began working at a young age, being a mother's helper for other families, cooking and cleaning, as well as watching their children. She attended Wellington schools and graduated from Wellington High School, in 1964. She was looking forward to an upcoming all class high school reunion this year.
Sharon married Galen Vaughn in a church wedding at First Christian Church in 1964. They were blessed with two sons, Kamron Vaughn and Kerry Vaughn. Sharon loved being a mother and was dedicated to her sons all her life.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, William T. and Mary Howe, her son Kamron Vaughn, former husband, Galen Vaughn, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
She is survived by her son Kerry Vaughn, of Fort Worth, TX., her two brothers Ronnie (Kayle) Howe of Cedar Hill, TX, Bill (Susie) Howe of Friendwoods, TX., cousins, Timothy (Li Chin) Beach of Houston, TX, Brenda (Rick) Stewart, and Brian Beach of Wellington, KS as well as numerous second-generation cousins.
Sharon was loved and will be missed. We pray for peace and calm.
