Shirley Ann Goodman, age 93, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away Thursday evening, October 5, 2017 at Sumner Regional Medical Center.
Shirley Ann (Hooten) Goodman was born on September 10, 1924 in Wellington, KS to Louis Edward Hooten and Alberta Lou (Erwin) Hooten. She was a graduate of Wellington High School.
She married Wayne Goodman on September 20, 1942 in Wellington, KS. Wayne preceded her in death in 1988.
Shirley enjoyed literature, especially during her work at the Wellington Public Library, genealogy, music, playing bridge, and spending time with her family. She volunteered at the Sumner Regional Medical Center gift shop and was a member of the American Baptist Women.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wayne; one brother, Rex Hooten; and two sisters, Betty Gaines and Lois Hull.
Survivors include her three children, Victor Goodman and his wife Jacquelyn of Martinsville, IN, Steve Goodman of Bel Aire, KS, and Sheri Wright and her husband Neville of Kilcunda, Victoria, Australia; one brother, Jim Hooten of Wellington; three grandchildren, Chris Goodman of Seattle, WA, Kimberly Gilfillan of Topeka, KS, and Melissa Goodman of Topeka, KS; and four great grandchildren.
Graveside Services will be held at Sumner Memorial Gardens on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Bob Nusser will officiate.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 from 1:00 – 8:00 P.M. The family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.
Memorials have been established with the Wellington Public Library and the First Baptist Church in lieu of flowers. Contributions can be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
